NZ COMP: Amazon Game of skate finals BEHIND THE SCENES

4th December 2011

The Amazon Game Of Skate finals went down on Saturday the 3rd of December under sunny skies thankfully. The best Game of players from around the country came to drink some free monster, see the Nek Minute guy and try and win a share of the largest prize money for a Game of skate ever seen!

The grommies came out and threw down to win some loot and they killed it. The top groms walking away with new boards and threads from Plan B, Nixon and DC. Major win!

A special mention has to go to the DC upledge comp. There was talk of the Band trying kicky BS noseblunts but the man who walked away the winner was Deen Rakich who drilled a switch front tail heel flip out a la Ronnie Creager. Dean is on point! Check the video section for a new clip of his if you dont believe me!

The final placings were in 4th Nick Lister, 3rd Chris Wood, 2nd Shaun Boucher and the overall champion in 1st was James Kingston. For that he got himself a hand craved Lee Ralph trophy. Something that will no doubt be going straight to the pool room!

Thanks to Amazon Boardstore, Monster energy, Nixon, Plan B, DC footwear and Manual Magazine. Most of all, thanks to everyone who came out and ripped!

You winner James Kingston with his Lee Ralph one off. DAYM!

Levi Hawken was there to MC and keep it real. I wonder how many time he heard "Nek Minute" that day.

Your upledge bad ass Deen Rakich with a heavy tail drop into the bank.

The grommies recieve some swag from Dc killer Simon Thorp. There is no E in Thorp, fact.

NIck Lister and foe Shaun Boucher chilling mid comp hoping someone hands them a nice refreshing Monster.

An unknown grom going for broke with a big ass frontside 180 over the whole upledge!

The Brett Band was in attendance no doubt showing people the correct way to frontside flip. He even wore a logo shirt for once too!

One line with star Nico Gottschalk keeping cool in the shade and watching the comp go down.

Levi Hawken and a man who is no stranger to serious games of skate himself, Skinner broing down.

NZ legend and Amazon bad man Justin Watene was on hand to supervise.

Shaun Boucher taking some time out between heats. Probably reading a trick tip.

The Skuxx policing the score board to ensure no one was cheating.

The final score. Must have pulled out some hyper flip trickery to ensure the one sided victory.

Levi with a haka and Chey keeping it real down on the hallowed turf that is the amazon park.

The peoples champ James Kingston getting his winners trophy while 2nd and third place getters Shaun and Woodsy look on and mentally calculate just how much of that money has to be spent on the bar.
